TLE 6: MY BLOGGER BLOG

I. Objective:      Create a Blogger account.
Design their blog.
II. Content
Using Blogger
Make sure you have signed in into your Google account before going to Blogger. Start using Blogger by following these steps:
1. Type blogger.com in your address bar. Welcome page will appear asking for confirmation of your profile.
2. Click Create a limited blogger profile button.
3. Enter your display name in the text box provided.
4. Click Continue to Blogger button. Your blogger home or dashboard will appear similar to the figure below.
With that, you are now ready to create your own blog and start posting.

Creating a New Blog
In your dashboard, do the following:
1. Click New Blog button at the upper left of the dashboard.
2. Enter the Title and Address, and then select the template for your blog:
3. Click Create Blog. Your new blog will be listed in your dashboard
4. From here, you may edit your blog this way. Click the edit button. The editor work space will appear which looks like the figure below. There you can enter texts, pictures or links which you would like to appear in your blog.
Assuming you would like to insert a picture, here's how:
a. Click the Insert image button. Select a file dialog box will come out. This is where you're going to choose an image file.
b. Click Choose files.
c. Locate for the image file that you wish to insert in your blog and then click Open.
d. Click Add selected The picture in the editor will appear just as you can see in the figure below.
From the editor, you can add text just as you type in a word processing application.
5. Click Publish button to complete the setup. To view your blog, click View blog button located at the upper portion of the page.
To do some editing on the layout, template and other settings of your blog just click your blog in your dashboard and play around with it.

Adding a Post
With your blog now working, you can add as many posts as you want. All you need to do is:
1. Click New Post.
2. Enter the title of the new post and its content.
3. Click Publish.
Make sure that your blog is a good blog. A good and successful blog consists of interesting writing style, updated and engaging posts and pages that allow audience to comment.

Some Safety and Responsible Practices in Using Wikis, Blogs and Audio-Video Conferences
o   Use the computer or mobile device for learning, studying, and researching for information.
o   Keep your password safe.
o   Follow age restrictions and policies. Participants usually need to be older than 13 years of age.
o   Show respect for others online and their work.
o   Do not copy other people's work. If you want to use the material from someone else, make sure to ask permission and cite the author or source.
o   When posting your own materials and pictures make sure to use a watermark to show ownership. Indicate your own policies regarding use of these materials by others.
o   Do not make untrue and/or damaging remarks that embarass others.
o   Do not use other people's accounts.
o   Do not share another person’s full name or send his or her photo without permission.
o   Be careful in sharing your personal information.
o   If you are the moderator, post the rules for the participants; if you are a participant, follow the rules or prescribed netiquette.
o   Use your time wisely; if you are finished, log out, and turn off the computer. Avoid playing unnecessary games.

v  For computer security, install and use a good anti-virus or protection system especially for users who are always online.
v  You can download for free or purchase propriety anti-virus software that is suitable for your needs.
v  Be aware of the rules and regulations, laws, and accounting standards of your country and other countries where you intend to conduct your business. Remember, with ICT, you can also do e-commerce.
v  Be cautious of the messages that you receive. Some of them may be scam or fake companies wanting to obtain money from unsuspecting clients.
v  Make sure employees are well-trained in the use of ICT and practice responsible usage.
